Denim X Embroidery

Hey lovelies! Happy new year to you all! I trust you all had a lovely holiday. I most certainly did 🙂 I happened to spend the holiday back home in Nigeria. It was a fairly short break but refreshing, as I got to enjoy a bit of sun before returning to gloomy London. While I was back home I had the chance to explore a place called Woji for a second time. it is situated in a town called Port Harcourt.
It was a boiling hot day in Woji market where business goes on as usual. As you would imagine it was a really busy atmosphere with customers stopping by as well as cars and vehicles like the tricycle colloquially called the Keke na pep which is usually yellow in colour,  constantly driving past with passengers. The Keke na pep is commonly found on this side of town.
The Woji market has a large variety of stalls selling almost anything you can think of. You can find anything from fresh fruits and veg to fabric.
I generally do more observing than talking in reality and always find it interesting observing different negotiations and transactions taking place. Being the Igbo girl that I am, you can trust I did some negotiating to get the best and lowest price possible for the items I wanted 😉 (For those who don’t know, Igbo is one of the three major tribes in Nigeria).
Now I’m all for anything fresh and that’s one of the things that makes me proud of home, that you can always get your food fresh and straight from the source.
I’m a lover of culture and colour, which is why I chose this location. It portrays a big part of the culture in Nigeria and I love the variety of colours it brings, from the big variety of fruits to the different array of eye catching fabric. Despite everything that’s going on in Nigeria, the culture is one thing that can never be tarnished, as it is constantly evolving and I have so much respect for that.

I love combining colour with denim and the market helped me create that effect. Today’s outfit features a fitted plunge denim jumpsuit from Boohoo. I rarely shop at Boohoo, however, I was doing some last minute shopping and was specifically looking for a denim jumpsuit. The moment I found this one, I knew I just had to have it. It’s such a comfy piece to add to your closet and I’m definitely a fan of the embroidery trend.

I paired it with red heels and an Ankara head scarf (Y’all know how much I love Ankara 😉 ). I accessorised with a 3 piece choker in denim and black, some hoop earrings, a multi-coloured clutch and multi bangles to give it some edge, and of course these sunglasses I wear ever so often, to protect my eyes from the burning sun. This look would also go well with a pair of white trainers for a more casual look. i wore mine with a black crop top inside, as I felt the plunge look would be a bit too much for the market. Depending on where you’re going, you can lose the crop top/cami for a more sultry look.

I hope you like it.
